Job Category: Lawyer
Job Type: Full Time

The Firm

Kalus Kenny Intelex is a 10 Partner Award-winning boutique law firm with a beautiful office based in the heart of Melbourne’s vibrant Southbank.

Our Firm acts for leading entrepreneurs, property developers, financiers, investors, private clients and business owners in some of Melbourne’s biggest and most complex transactions and disputes.

The Role

We have an exciting career opportunity for a talented lawyer to join our Structured Finance and Investments team.  We are proud to have been recognised as a Finalist for ‘Banking & Finance Team of the Year’ in the 2022 Australian Law Awards.

Working directly with the Partner and practice team leader Denise Wightman, a former property lawyer and now an Accredited Specialist in Commercial Law, you will gain significant experience in this specific area of the law.

As part of the team, you will assist with acting for both non-bank lenders and high net worth individuals who provide funding for, or investment in, property acquisition and development.  You will be involved in all aspects of these transactions, including due diligence, preparation of loan and security documents (including tripartite agreements with builders) joint ventures of all types and settlement of these transactions.

The team’s expertise extends beyond the transactional aspects of property finance.  It includes advice work to both lenders and borrowers alike on their security position and the enforcement of their securities.

The Person

To be successful you will have 3-4 years PAE in Property, preferably from a large or mid-tier firm.

You will need to be detail oriented, technically minded, solution focussed and not only analyse the legal position for the client but also the risk.  You will be wanting to enhance your career by learning from senior practitioners and already have good practical experience on a broad range of property matters.

You need to be approachable and a confident communicator.  Teamwork should come naturally to you and above all else, you must be committed to delivering the very best commercial and legal outcomes for clients.

The Culture

Whilst we have a busy legal practice and work hard to achieve great outcomes for our clients, we genuinely value the well-being of our people, and are known as industry leaders in law firm culture.
