Well we did it.
To get to the end of this remarkable year largely intact is enough to make me believe in miracles.
But I don’t believe in miracles. I believe in people.
After a year which was terrifying some of the time and challenging all of the time, I am convinced more than ever that all we need is to be surrounded by the right people.
At Kalus Kenny Intelex we put our faith in our people. All we asked of them was to do their best. We were confident that their best, whatever that looked like through this year’s incredible challenges, would be enough. And it was. We knew we would be defined by how we conducted ourselves this year. We saw it as an opportunity and we knew we could trust our staff to support us and our clients, as we supported them.
And as always it has been a privilege to work with you, our clients and our networks through 2020. To share your journeys, to be entrusted with your problems and endeavours, and to be brought into your inner circles is a gift we never take for granted.
Though working from home with restrictions meant we saw less of our clients and staff than we normally would, in many ways we were able to see more.
We saw people’s humanity. We saw frailty. But we also saw how adaptable and robust we can be. We saw the power of connection and the power of laughter. And we saw people at their enterprising best.
All of what we saw is cause for optimism.
Whilst this year was like no other, it showed us that we are all vulnerable.
It also showed us that anything is possible with the right people around us.
Unfortunately not everyone has that support.
So this year rather than give Christmas or end of year gifts to the people who have supported us, we have decided to donate to three organizations which provide incredibly important support to those who need it most.
By donating to Beyond Blue, Lighthouse Foundation and Stand Up (of which I am a proud Board Member) our firm will help to put the right people around those who are most in need.

Beyond Blue provides information and support to help everyone in Australia achieve their best possible mental health, whatever their age and wherever they live.
Lighthouse Foundation provides homeless young people from backgrounds of long-term neglect and abuse, with a home, a sense of family, and around-the-clock therapeutic care that is individually tailored, trauma informed and proven to work.
Stand Up works to tackle Australia’s most pressing social challenges, by inspiring and mobilising the collective will and compassion of Australia’s Jewish Community to work with marginalised communities, including refugees and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.
