Melbourne law firm Kalus Kenny Intelex is expanding its services to include Family Law with the appointment of Josephine Sergi.

Josephine is joining KKI to head-up a new Family Law practice where she will combine her extensive family law experience with the talented Natalie Lasek (Commercial Partner) and Kimi Shah (Head of Wills & Estates) to offer clients an integrated family law offering supported by the firms strong commercial, wills, structuring and estates and disputes resolution capability.

Josephine holds a Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours and a Master of Applied Law (Family Law).

She is experienced across the full range of family law services, but her primary areas of specialisation include property matters featuring family businesses and complex corporate structures, overseas assets, taxation and valuation issues, third parties and undisclosed assets. This is complemented by her discreet and sensitive ability to advise on and manage parenting matters.

“The appointment of Josephine, and the addition of Family Law, enables the firm to fully look after our clients, their lives, families and their businesses,” KKI Partner Sven Burchartz said.

“Josephine is the ideal practitioner to establish this new and important practice area for KKI.

“She understands that all families are different, and how the dynamics, motivations and issues within each family vary.

“She has exceptional commercial and financial literacy. She is level headed and acutely understands ‘our way’ of practising, which is to provide tailored, practical and strategic advice to achieve positive outcomes and minimise conflict.

“However, if court action becomes necessary, she is an accomplished and fierce advocate for her clients,” he said.

Commenting on her decision to join KKI, Josephine said:

“From my first discussion with KKI, it was apparent there was a synergy in vision, approach and culture.

“KKI’s strong focus on striving for a high standard of quality, not only in legal work, but also on client service and the importance of the people that are KKI resonated, giving me certainty this was something special.

“I feel privileged and very excited to have the chance to work with the KKI team, and to establish and solidify a high-level family law practice which will stand the test of time,” she said.

Josephine is a member of various organisations including the Law Institute of Victoria, the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia, Victorian Women Lawyers, the Australian Italian Lawyers Association and ALTO.
